Yang Shou-Zhong's The Divine Farmer's Materia Medica - A Translation of Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing also has Wood Ear (they are both partial translations), which is a mushroom. Umbrella Polypore is also a mushroom. Usnea is lichen. So, the category is not strictly trees or woods. And in other categories one will find trees listed, such as Umeboshi under food crops.
