SHAOLIN GREAT SUPPLEMENT WINE
-My (Shortened) Version

Dong Quai,  Ligusticum (Chuan Xiong),  Mu Gua (Chinese Quince),  Safflower, Achyranthis ("Ox Knee"),  Atractylodis, Codonopsis,  Cinnamon,  Dan Shen (Red Sage Root / Salvia),  Lycii (Goji),  Rehmannia (cooked / Shu Di),  Morinda,  Poria (Fu Ling),  Hawthorn,  Citrus Peel,  He Shou Wu,  Lily,  Yam,  Frakincense,  Myrrh

Recipe calls for several additional herbs.  One is Clematis root, which I would like to use the local species (Virgin's Bower) as a replacement.  In the future I plan to use the American Cimicifuga (Black Cohosh / Actea) instead of the Chinese.  Recipe also calls for Ginkgo nuts.

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius / "Red Flower" / Flos Carthami Tinctorii / Hong Hua) is used here, as in most of the other Shaolin wines.  It is considered milder than, and medicinally similar to Saffron.  Safflower is used specifically for trauma (such as injury), primarily as a blood moving herb.  It is used to treat blood stagnation and pain.  It is also specific for blocked menses.
